Tools and Beyond
The advantage to being a separate charity from TfSR Southampton is that we can have a broader remit and focus on projects with our residents that enable creativity and a change of pace together with the opportunity to develop more skills. To this end, we will accept most offers of donations from traditional tools to musical instruments, electrical power tools to toilets.
We have a stepped approach to all donations.
First, we have an expert review what has been donated and then remove any true antique tools which we auction via a specialist auction to raise funds.
If the donations are not antique and are suitable for TfSR HQ we refurbish them to the best of our ability and then send onto Southampton for distribution overseas.
If not then we look at donations suitable for Camphill Gardeners or Facilities? If so we refurbish them and send to our main campus at Willen Lake.
We then liaise with other charities such as Cycle Saviors and Work Aid to re-donate to them if we feel the donation is more suitable to them.
The remainder we try to use in creative projects and either make something practical like turning a rusted wheel barrow into a lovely display for produce for the Camphill gardens or props for our theatre etc.
Finally with the remaining material we do our best to either raise money through scrap or recycling.
